Mornar opens the Eurocup season in front of the local audience.

Mornar basketball team starts its European season this year on Wednesday, October 3, in their own Topolica hall, against Uniks from Kazan, within the first round of the Eurocup “D” group.

They started the regional ABA league season with a defeat from Petrol Olimpia in Ljubljana (87:66).

The head coach, Mihailo Pavićević, is not optimistic before the duel with the strong team from Russia.

- Uniks is the absolute favorite, judging by the roster and by our form. Objectively, we have nothing to hope for against the extremely strong team from Russia. Uniks is better than most of the Euroleague teams and they will fight to get to the top of Eurocup. We will try to use the first game in Eurocup to improve our form, but it will be difficult to do so against such a rival. Still, it would be good to show at least some improvement compared to the game with Olimpia. There will not be any uncertainty in this game, because, as I said, we are playing a very high-quality team. In fact, this will be a very good opportunity for fans to see an extremely strong team from Russia in action on court in Topolica – says the head coach Pavićević.

Neither Uroš Luković expects more from the duel with Russia result-wise, but he emphasizes that his team will give their best to show their true potential in the first game of this season in front of the audience in Bar.

- It’s unfortunate that we have to fix the impression from Ljubljana against a strong team such as Uniks. We will do everything to have the local audience applaud us at the end. – says the tall center of Mornar.
