Two difficult matches a week, both in the ABA league and Eurocup, leave no time to mourn over what was missed this season, because the ball rolls on quick.
That’s the case in Mornar, but also in all other clubs competing on two fronts. However, there are just two ABA league teams competing in the two most challenging team competitions in Europe: Budućnost (Euroleague) and Crvena zvezda, Cedevita, Mornar, and Partizan (Eurocup). In Group D Round 5 of the Eurocup Mornar is hosting Rytas from Vilnius. The team from Bar has the score of 1:3, and the Lithuanians have so far recorded two wins and two losses in the previous four rounds.
Mornar coach Mihailo Pavićević says another great European team is coming to Bar.
- The players of Rytas went through the Lithuanian school of basketball, the best in Europe, which gives many players who resemble one another quite a lot. First and foremost, they all perform great shoots from the 3-point line, no matter if it’s the shooting guard, the small forward, or the center. When you add American reinforcements to the mix, and the fact that Rytas has been playing in Europe for years, it becomes certain that a great team is coming to Bar – says Mićović.
Guard Lazar Pavicevic expects great support from the fans.
Strahinja Mićović has recovered from his illness and strated training again. During the match with Zadar it was obvious how much Mornar misses this excellent player (and polite man), his three-pointers, rebounds, and the co-called “secure points” underneath the opponent’s hoop.
- I’m still not completely ready, but I expect to spend at least a few minutes in the game, to feel the court and the ball. The most important thing is for me to fully regain my strength so I can be in the best possible shape for Cibona and the rest of the ABA league. A lot was already said about the team from Vilnius, and we will give our best to improve the impressions from the match with Zadar – says Mićović.
After the injury, ready for the match will be Djordje Drenovac who returned to the field on Sunday.
The match Mornar – Rytas will be on Wednesday, the 31st of October in the “Topolica” hall, from 19.00h.
