Mornar is hosting the Skyliners in the next-to-last Group D round of Eurocup.
Mornar is not even thinking about qualifying for Eurocup Round 2, because that would be a miracle. The team from Bar would have to win both of the remaining game - tomorrow night against the Frankfurt Skyliners and a week after that against Rytas in Vilnius. Rytas would have to, in turn, lose not just against Mornar, but also tonight against Fiat in Turin, which has won all eight of its games. Another case scenario would see Rytas defeating the Italian team, and Mornar defeating not just the Germans, but also the Lithuanians in the last round by more than 23 points (as it was defeated in Bar 92:69).
Mornar coach Mihailo Pavićević says his teams has accomplished what they had hoped for in the Eurocup Group D: they won two games and will not be the team with the lowest overall score. He also says he sees the upcoming game against the Germans as an opportunity for Mornar to prepare itself for the upcoming match against Cedevita in the last, eleventh round of the first part of the ABA league.
- To be honest, the match against the Skyliners will serve as an opportunity to prepare for Cedevita. We will expand the roster a bit and spread the burden of the game evenly to all the players. For some players, relieving the constant tension and racing for victory is necessary. Of course, we will play to the best of our abilities, and we will see what the result is going to be - says Pavićević.
Strahinja Mićović also things tomorrow evening is a good opportunity for Mornar to play against a strong team, unburdened.
- The victory in Železnik means a lot for us, as we await the upcoming three ABA league matches at home with much more enthusiasm. There is nothing left to say about the German team from which we lost 98:75 in Frankfurt. They excel at all positions, and all that is left for us to do is play as well as we can against a strong team - says Mićović.
Tomorrow’s match (Wednesday) Mornar - Fraport Skyliners will begin at 19:00h in “Topolica” hall.
